Welcome To Our Diocese
We welcome your visit to the Military Diocese and thank you in anticipation for your ministry and the pastoral care that you extend to military members and families. In order to exercise ministry in this Diocese, you will need to fulfil the obligations of providing the various documentation as required by the Church throughout Australia.
What You Need To Do
With an ACMR Number
If you are registered on the National Catholic Database and have an Australian Catholic Ministry Register (AMCR) number, the process is relatively simple. After contacting the Chancery or the local Catholic Chaplain at the location of the military chapel where you intend to minister, the requirement will be that you provide your ACMR number, and your State or Territory’s ‘Working with Children Check’ (WWCC).
All visiting clergy should also complete the Visiting Clergy Form and return it to the Chancery of the Military Ordinariate for clearance checks.
Without an ACMR Number
In the absence of an ACMR number, to exercise your ministry in the Diocese, you will need to complete one of the following documents and return the information to the Chancery of the Military Ordinariate.
A signed CMOA Safeguarding Statement Form should be used where the bishop or ordinary can fully affirm the individual's good standing.
Safeguarding Declaration and Disclosure Form in relation to professional standards should be used in instances where individual disclosures are required to be made and the Bishop or Ordinary is not able to affirm all statements contained within the declaration form.
Please provide the details of your current Working with Children Card from your residing state along with the completed form.
Clearance Process
- Submit your requests (forms, working with children, ACMR details) by email to the Chancery Office 30 days prior to your visit to our Diocese.
- We will verify your documents and forms through official state and governing authorities.
- Permission to minister in our Diocese approved by our Diocese delegates will be issued by the Chancery Office once forms and documents have been cleared.
- A letter will be emailed to you prior to your visit, stating approval or if we require more details.
