Our Families

Our Chaplains provide a range of services, assistance and resources to support ADF members and their families.

Our Families supporting our ADF

Catholic families are as diverse, and yet unique, as any other family.

Our families reflect diverse cultures and languages, structures and challenges faced by many in today’s world. Our families are caring for children living with a disability, parents whose children have died and those who have been unable to have children. We have those where a spouse had died, those caring for orphans, as well as migrant families. As the saying about Catholics goes: “Here comes everybody.” The same can be said about our Defence families.

What makes a Catholic family?

To be a Catholic family is to center family life around God, to allow Him into your home and your life - as individuals and as a family - and let Him take the lead. It means to keep God as part of the relationship between husband and wife and passing on that relationship to your children.

What are our values?

The Church considers the family as the first natural society. It is the foundation of society and is central to all social life. It is a place where different generations live together and experience affection, solidarity, appreciation, unselfish commitment, help and justice. Every person is loved, just as he is.

You should strive to embody the principles you wish to instill, demonstrating kindness, respect, honesty, and compassion in your daily interactions. Age-appropriate discussions about values are also essential.
