Our Families

Our Chaplains provide a range of services, assistance and resources to support ADF members and their families.

Our Families supporting our ADF

Catholic families are as different, and yet unique, as any other family.

Our families are a reflection of the different cultures, languages, systems, and difficulties that many people in the modern world experience. Our families are taking care of disabled children, parents whose children have passed away, and people who have not been able to conceive. We have immigrant families, those taking care of orphans, and those who have lost a spouse. As the saying about Catholics goes: “Here comes everybody.” The same is true of our military families.

What makes a Catholic family?

To be a Catholic family is to centre family life on God, to allow Him into your home and your life – as individuals and as a family – and let Him take the lead. It refers to maintaining God's role in a husband and wife's relationship and transferring that bond to your offspring.

What are our values?

The Church sees the family as the first natural society. It is the foundation of society and the centre of all social activities. It is a place where people of different ages live together and share feelings of affection, solidarity, gratitude, selfless service, and justice. Every person is loved exactly as they are.

You should endeavour to exemplify the values you want to instill by displaying love, respect, honesty, and compassion in your daily encounters. Age-appropriate discussions regarding values are also necessary.
