60th Anniversary International Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes

The Military Diocese will take part in the 2018 International Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes 18-21 May.

The Australian Catholic contingent with be led by Monsignor Peter O’Keefe, Vicar General of the Military Diocese representing Bishop Davis. The group will comprise Fr Damien Ellis, Chaplain to the Australian Defence Force Academy ( ADFA) and some ten Training Officers from the Academy representing Army, Navy and Air Force.  Some 16000 uniform personnel representing various NATO countries will gather in Lourdes.

This year represent the 60th anniversary  of this annual event commenced in 1958. After the Second World War, German and French soldiers met at Lourdes to seek reconciliation, peace and healing and from this small gathering the international faith event within military forces  has developed.
